Parlophone had the contract to distribute Okeh in Britain.
The mid ‘20’s were a turning point for the industry with the introduction of Electric
recording techniques. By 1927 all new recordings were electric with a great
improvement in sound quality. Here is a million selling record produced in 1927

For those of you who are interested in jazz, that was Red Nichols and his Five
Pennies. The musicians were white, and at various times included Jimmy Dorsey,
Benny Goodman, Eddie Lang, Wingy Manone, Gene Krupa, Glen Miller, Miff Mole,
Pee Wee Russell, Jack Teagarden, Joe Venuti and others. Very often, his five pennies

plasticised resin compound onto a paper core. Unfortunately the plastic embrittled
with age and delaminated. One side of my copy is only just playable. After about a
year they gave up. Also, real pop music was around

The Mills Brothers in the USA issued this in 1930 and it sold a million copies.
